Brefeldin A Effects in Plants (Are Different Golgi Responses Caused by Different Sites of Action?).

چکیده
During the past decade, BFA, a lipophilic funga1 toxin, has become a major tool of cell biologists interested in studying vesicle-mediated trafficking in animal and plant cells. Its main attractions include its ability to block secretion and to induce profound morphological changes in the organelles of the secretory and endocytic pathways in a totally reversible manner. In the plant literature, however, discrepancies have arisen about the effects of BFA on the Golgi apparatus, with some laboratories reporting a breakdown of Golgi stacks and others finding no such effect (Satiat-Jeunemaitre and Hawes, 1994). The purpose of this communication is to propose a hypothesis that can explain the two types of Golgi responses.

cis-Golgi proteins accumulate near the ER exit sites and act as the scaffold for Golgi regeneration after brefeldin A treatment in tobacco BY-2 cells
The Golgi apparatus forms stacks of cisternae in many eukaryotic cells. However, little is known about how such a stacked structure is formed and maintained. To address this question, plant cells provide a system suitable for live-imaging approaches because individual Golgi stacks are well separated in the cytoplasm. We established tobacco BY-2 cell lines expressing multiple Golgi markers tagge...
متن کاملApplication of Plant Biostimulants as New Approach to Improve the Biological Responses of Medicinal Plants- A Critical Review
The aim of this review was to represent a category of applied plant biostimulants and to highlight the effect of their application on morphological and phytochemical properties of medicinal plants in in vivo and in vitro conditions and their mechanism of action. Plant biostimulants, safe for both human beings and the environment, are substances or materials, except for nutrients and pesticides,...
متن کاملEffects of brefeldin A on the localization of chondroitin sulfate-synthesizing enzymes. Activities in subfractions of the Golgi from chick embryo epiphyseal cartilage.
Membranes from brefeldin A-treated and untreated chick embryo epiphyseal cartilage were fractionated separately by equilibrium sucrose density gradient centrifugation. Fractions were assayed for Gal I transferase, Gal II transferase, Gal ovalbumin transferase, chondroitin polymerization on endogenous acceptors, GalNAc transfer to exogenous chondroitin hexasaccharide, and sulfate transfer to exo...
متن کاملEthnopharmacological evaluation of antisplasmodic activity of essential oils from different plants
Achillea santolina, Nepeta cataria and Salvia bucharica are mainly known to possess antispasmodic use in traditional medicine. The essential oils from these plants were screened for their possible pharmacological activity with possible mode of action explored. Volatile oil was extracted by steam distillation using standard procedure given in British Pharmacopoeia 2001. For pharmacological activ...
